The Illinois Development
Council has six categories of Membership: (1) Active; (2) Associate;
(3) Affiliate; (4) Corporate; (5) Government; (6) Honorary Life.
An Active Member of The Council shall be
- an individual or a representative of a firm who is engaged in economic development on a full-time basis; or
- whose full-time activity is devoted to economic development activities within the State of Illinois; or
- at the discretion of the Board of Directors, certain other individuals who are prominently active in economic development.
An Associate Member of The Council shall be
- an individual whose duties/responsibilities include economic development; or
- whose activities are supportive to the Economic Development process, as well as
- those involved in the social, environmental and legislative areas that impact the overall economic health of Illinois communities and the state as a whole.
An Associate member does not have the power to vote on Council business.
An Affiliate Member of The Council shall be
- an individual who is not engaged in economic development either on a full or part-time basis;
- one who supports programs and/or organizations that are engaged in full-time economic development in the State of Illinois.
An Affiliate Member does not have voting powers.
A Corporate member is aligned with companies who pay dues according to a dues schedule set by the Board of Directors designating one individual to serve as the designated representative to the Illinois Development Council. The individual employed by the member may participate in activities of The Council consistent with policies and practices adopted by the Board of Directors. Designated representative status remains with the company and is transferable to another representative employee.
A Government member is aligned with federal or state agencies who pay dues according to a dues schedule set by the Board of Directors designating one individual to serve as the designated representative to the Illinois Development Council. The individual employed by the member may participate in activities of The Council consistent with policies and practices adopted by the Board of Directors. Designated representative status remains with the government agency and is transferable to another representative employee.
Honorary Life Membership shall be granted at the discretion and approval of the Board of Directors to
- a member of The Council for at least 10 years, or
- a member who performed meritorious service for The Council, or
- was an effective economic developer, and
- a member retired or is retiring from full-time active involvement in economic development.
Honorary Life Membership shall entitle the member to all rights and privileges of The Council except, holding office, or payment of dues. |
