Committee Structure

Seven standing committees have been assigned by the Board of Directors to help guide the affairs of the Illinois Development Council:

  1. Communications
  2. Conference Planning Committee
  3. Cooperative Marketing
  4. Education Committee
  5. Executive Committee
  6. Government Affairs
  7. Membership Development

With the exception of the Executive and Public Relations Committees, membership on any of listed committees is voluntary and open to anyone of good membership standing with the Council Meetings are held sux times annually, prior to each board meeting.

An active member of the Illinois Development Council chairs each committee. These Chairpersons have been chosen from the ranks of IDC membership by the Board due, in part, to their dedication to the mission of the Illinois Development Council and their past dedication to perform an extraordinary amount of work with no compensation.

If you are interested in volunteering to work on a committee, contact Michael Lane or complete the Committee Interest Form and return it to the IDC Office.

Communications Committee

Mission Statement: Promote the work of the Council through media releases and other appropriate channels. Ensure consistency of Council printed materials.

Made up of Executive Committee and one appointment by the Chair.

Meetings called by the Chairman of IDC as necessary.

Conference Planning Committee

Mission Statement: Plans the IDC Annual Conference.

Cooperative Marketing Committee

Mission Statement: To strategically partner with key development allies to plan and execute marketing events positioning Illinois as a premier business location in the global market place.

Education/Scholarship Committee

Mission Statement: Respond to the education and professional development needs of the IDC membership by creating opportunities to advance the knowledge base of economc development throughout Illinois.

Executive Committee

Mission Statement: Charged with the day-to-day operations of IDC.

Meetings: Meetings held as needed, when called by the Chairman of IDC.

Government Affairs Committee

Mission Statement: To utilize member participation in order to provide leadership in the development and advocacy of public policy that enhances the economic competitiveness of Illinois.

Membership Development Committee

Mission Statement: To proactively build and extend the partnership among active economic development players in the State of Illinois through communication, membership development and support.
